Super cool Boer War South Africa Republic Martini Henry infantry rifle by Steyr. Dated 1883. “ZAR” over “4601” rack number on the left, factory “H4030” on the right. The rifle shows a good deal of natural service wear and tear as would be expected of a Boer rifle but seems to have escaped abuse or severe neglect over the past 140 years. Bore is pretty good too – strong and sharp with light rust/frosting throughout. No serious issues, and would as it should.
This is a very nice example of a very rare Boer Martini that would make for a great display alongside your OVS or ZAR Mauser 7x57, British Long Lee Metford .303, Webley-Pryse, etc etc. Antique, so no licence is required as long as you are not in a jurisdiction which prohibits direct shipping of pre-1899 arms to unlicensed collectors.
