Here is a fine example of a factory cased Smith & Wesson Model 1 ½ Revolver chambered in .32 S&W. According to my notes, S&W sold around 500 of these revolvers with factory wooden cases, and the serial range is somewhere around 20000-30000, of which this revolver fits. The case is really a sharp piece with a red base lining and black label with now-faded gold instructions. The box shows no damage or repairs, only general wear, dings and scratches commensurate with age. The latch keeper seems to be missing as seen, but is really not noticeable.
Grips are fine with no damage, some case color remains on the hammer and bluing on the latch, and the nickel finish is good with some dulling/frosting particularly on the barrel. Bore looks good with strong rifling and some pitting. The action works well with good timing, lockup and strong springs, certainly could be shootable with blackpowder ammo if approved by a gunsmith.
Also included is an 1880s empty Winchester ammo picture box showing the same model revolver. Makes for a great display.
