Up for sale is an antique French Model 1777 style flintlock musket in about 69 caliber. Smoothbore barrel measures 39 ½" to the back of the pan with a dark, crusty, rusted poor bore. Metal surfaces are primarily shades of dark gray and brown patina with old pitting, scattered scratches and various handling marks while the brass bolster and pan are an ochre patina. Musket is sighted with a simple front blade mounted on the front barrel band and the band is loose. Barrel shows no visible markings and the lock is marked with what looks like a “Crown/B” over French arsenal markings we cant quite make out. Hammer does hold at half and full cock and the frizzen is not frozen. Included with the musket is a tapered steel ramrod with a threaded end.
