is a very rare pre-civil war era Maynard primed .28 caliber single action
percussion revolver. It was produced by the Massachusetts Arms Company in Chicopee,
Massachusetts sometime between 1851 and 1857.
This revolver is at least 168 years old, historic and a beautiful work of art from the period. Although
the original finish is lost to time a very pleasing gray patina has taken its place. Beautiful hand
engraving, in a water wave motif, can be found on both sides of the frame, the top of the hammer and
bottom of the back strap. The cylinder is acid etched with a pleasing naval themed embellishment. It
is indeed a handsome firearm artefact and would make a
significant addition to any collection of historic firearms.
