A John Mullan percussion double barrel shotgun. John Mullan (Mullin) joined with his brother Patrick who was trained in Dublin and emigrated to the United States in 1840. John shared shop space with his brother from 1840-50 in the 200 block of Broadway in New York City. This 12 gauge features London proofed Damascus barrels, with blowout plugs, and the original hickory and brass ram rod. The barrels are 28 3/8” and the overall length is 44” on the centerline. LOP is about 13 ¼”. The nicely figured walnut stock is superbly fitted with the hardware. Both locks hold half and full cock and are strong and undamaged. The nipples appear original and in firing condition. No. 100 is marked on the trigger guard and both barrels.
Overall, this an attractive and nice conditioned example of a pre-civil war American made shotgun. Feel free to ask questions
