Good condition, the metal surfaces retain around 30% of their original finish that has generally dulled and faded leaving the whole a dark blue mixed with brown and gray patina. The markings are well-struck and correct, the barrel address and serial number on the butt appear crisp, while the patent dates on the cylinder, while still sharp, are possibly obscured by spotting. The grip panels are good, each having handling marks in the form of minor abrasions and pressure dents, the screw escutcheon on the right panel is a square-shaped replacement, and both are free of cracks, chips or repairs. Mechanically fine, the cylinder indexes correctly with some of the cylinder stops apparently worn, the barrel-to-frame fit could benefit from tightening, the front sight has been ground down, and the bore shows evident rifling with slightly softened lands beneath lint and residue. There is scattered moderate pitting and abrasion from black powder flash running the length, and the bore should clean to about good.
