Antique Winchester 3rd Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle 44 WCF 44-40 Win 1890

Up for SALE is a used, antique Winchester 3rd Model 1873 lever action rifle chambered in 44 WCF/44-40 Win. Round barrel measures 24 3/8" in length with a moderately bright, frosted bore with scattered light to moderate pitting. Metal surfaces have almost entirely toned to shades of dark brown patina with areas of gray along with scratches, dings, handling marks, rust staining and freckling and the buttplate shows what looks like remnants of fabric stuck to it. Smooth wood forend and straight grip buttstock have been sanded and refinished at some point and show assorted older softened, dings, nicks and bruises with the wood being shy of the metal in a few areas. Rifle is sighted with a blade front and buckhorn style sporting rear leaf. Markings on the barrel, tangs and cartridge lifter show some wear but remain legible and the dust cover retaining screw in an older brass replacement that has toned to a dark ochre patina and the dust cover doesnt have much tension and slides back and forth under its own weight.
