This is a Belgium Liege made Swing Blade Belt Pistol. It is a lightly engraved percussion single shot Antique in .43 Bore. It was made circa 1853-77.
This Belt Pistol was made in the Belgium Liege area and carries punches of the proof house of Liege (Spangled ELG in an oval with a star) - acceptance of 1853-1877.
The condition is: (1) Original finish on metal parts were blued steel or iron and the bluing has aged to a more mottled grey look. (2) The burl walnut grips are original finish and are pinned to the frame . (3) The hammer has strong sear engagement with full cock firing position only. (4) The swing blade holds firmly.
It functions almost perfectly
(5) The bore is a decent smooth bore with some light frosting but nothing significant.
