This particular Dragoon was made at the end of the production run in 1860 just before the model was discontinued in 1861. The action functions correctly. Overall, this is a Very Good specimen of an important member of the Colt percussion revolver family.
The bore is dark and the rifling is sharp where not interrupted by erosion. There is erosion and pitting scattered throughout the bore.
Most antique firearms have bores that will show erosion. This is not only due to age but to the use of black powder. When fired, black powder reacts corrosively.
