This example is a XL Bull Dog with a nickel finish and mother of pearl grips, likely manufactured in the 1880s. This one has some mechanical issues, please see the mechanics section above. The Hopkins and Allen XL Bull Dog revolver is considered a classic example of late 19th-century American firearms design.
It reflects the era's emphasis on small, concealable handguns for personal defense in an era when carrying firearms for protection was common.
This one will make for a great restoration project or will display nicely in your collection.
