We are honored to present this truly remarkable antique L.D. Nimschke-style New York engraved Smith & Wesson .38 Safety Hammerless Third Model, manufactured in 1892 and believed to have been shipped to the legendary Hartley & Graham of New York City. This early 3rd Model variant features a 3.25" barrel chambered in .38 S&W, beautifully finished in original silver plating with a gold-plated cylinder and trigger guard. It wears a fine set of genuine mother of pearl grips that remain fully intact, with only minor handling visible and no major chips or cracks. It is housed in a deluxe glass-top fitted display case.
The revolver remains in fine original condition, retaining approximately 80% of its silver plating with attractive age patina and darkening, along with roughly 10% of its original gold finish on the cylinder and trigger guard. The action is crisp, the mechanics are excellent, and the bore is mirror-bright with pristine chambers.
We shipped this into the in 2022; its time to find a new home for it.
