Rare Antique Mauser Model 1878 C78 Large Frame Zig Zag Revolver 10.6mm

Up for sale is a used, antique Mauser Model 1878 “Zig-Zag” revolver chambered in10.6mm. Round ribbed barrel measures 5 ½" in length with a mostly dull, frosted bore with moderate pitting throughout and a few scattered heavier pits. Metal surfaces have almost entirely toned to very dark brown patina with a few streaks of gray along with older scattered handling marks and scratches in addition to to a few scattered areas of older softened pitting. Checkered hard rubber grips are a dark chocolate brown, almost black color and feature a fancy floral design around the border. Grips remain in good condition with some older built up dirt in the recesses, a few small handling marks and a light chip in the left panel. Revolver is sighted with a large half round blade front sight with a fixed notch rear built into the frame hinge. Safety lever works, as does the cylinder with good timing and some very light play in cylinder lock up but the lever or latch on the left side behind the recoil shield is missing. Left side of the barrel shows a “Crown/Crown/U” proof above a 4 digit serial with matching serials on the cylinder, barrel latch, and hammer while the cylinder shows the same “Crown/Crown/U” proof as the barrel and the barrel rib still shows clear Mauser markings.
