Scarce Spanish Model 1874 Rolling Block Single Shot Musketoon, Cal. .43 Spanish Reformado, NSN, Barrel is 23-1/8" long with folding rear sight graduated to 600 Meters. Stud Type front sight. These carbine length rifles were used mostly to arm Sappers & Garrison Artillery Troops. Receiver is marked on the right side with Spanish Crown with "AR" and "O" (Oviedo Armory) with "1886". The breechblock is fitted with a firing pin retractor and sliding bar extractor. The buttstock has various numerals on both sides and a flat type buttplate with a long tang. Buttplate is stamped "CF" in a oval. The forend is secured with 2 clamping bands which are also retained by springs. Forend has characteristic Spanish transverse reinforcing screw. Correct ramrod. Bottom swivels are fitted and has a vintage leather sling. Nice working action and the bore is shiny, strong rifling with some light to moderate wear to the lands.
