The Model 1873 "Trapdoor" Springfield was the first standard-issue breech-loading rifle adopted by the United States Army and was one of the main service rifles of the U.S. Military until it was gradually replaced by the Springfield Model 1892 Krag Rifle.
This Model 1873 Trapdoor is a Model 1879 variant. There is no official destination of this variation as a Model 1879 but it has distinctive characteristics which set it apart from a standard Model 1873, such as a wider receiver that is no longer flush with the barrel. It was made in 1879 and is in about Good to Very Good condition for an antique. It has good markings on the metal. This cartridge firing Trapdoor is an Antique so No licence is required.
