Gun is still in original flint. The lockplate appears to have been cleaned at some point, markings are clear but weak, could just be the stamping as well. Fine mechanical function. The metal on this is bright. Fine bore. .54 caliber, smoothbore. Wood has some dings and handling marks . Nice clear P over US barrel marking. The wood ramrod appears to be original, with the iron tip for cleaning. Really a super example. Many of these were used, still in the flint configuration, early on during the Civil War by Confederate soldiers.
