Well Worn Antique German Steyr Gew 88 Commission Rifle 8x57 Mauser

Up for sale is used, antique and well worn German Gew 88 bolt action rifle chambered in 8x57 Mauser. Jacketed barrel measures 29 ¼" in length with dark,. Metal surfaces are almost entirely shades of rust brown patina with some streaks of gray along with older textured rust, pitting, high edge wear and assorted marks. Wood stock is dark from age and has numerous assorted dings, dents and scratches common to elderly surplus rifles along with some softened older chips and a couple of fine drying cracks forming near the buttplate and a couple of the cartouches are still present. Rifle is sighted with a drift adjustable inverted-V front blade and folding rear ladder and the rear sight is missing its elevator/slider. Rifle will need mechanical attention since the bolt head assembly is missing.
Receiver is Steyr marked and dated either 1891 or 1894 .
