This is an excellent, clean, early war German-production K98 Mauser, and includes the cleaning rod, a proper bayonet with scabbard and carrier, ammunition pouches and stripper clips. Serial numbers on the rifle receiver, barrel and stock are matching and the code shows it was manufactured at the Mauserwerk factory in Oberndorf. You can see the German eagle stamp on the left of the receiver ring. The other serial numbers do not match. The rifle is in excellent overall condition, the stock has normal handling wear but no cracks or gouges. The bore and rifling appear in good shape but could use a cleaning. No corrosion or rust. The rifle even has the front sight hood - a rarity! The bayonet and scabbard serial numbers do not match, which is typical. The scabbard has a couple dents but the bayonet sheaths correctly. The leather carrier is in overall excellent condition but there is a tear in the keeper strap that goes around the hilt. Also, three double ammunition pouches, one is WWII period correct and the other two are later production. Includes 10 correct ammunition stripper clips - the speed loaders of the day.
This a great and hard to find collection.
