Here's a somewhat scarce Remington Model 725 bolt action sporter. The Model 725 was only manufactured a short time, 1958-1961, with a total production of just 16,635 guns in all available calibers. This rifle is chambered for the .30-06 and while the most common caliber in the 725, still totaled only 7657 guns made. It wears a 22" barrel with iron sights and has a hinged floorplate and Enfield style safety lever. It has a checkered walnut stock with factory sling swivels and factory checkered aluminum butt plate. Overall condition is very good and the rifle retains about 94-96% of the original blue finish. There is some thinning of the finish on the bolt handle knob and edges of trigger guard, but no rust or pitting. The stock has dents, dings and shallow scratches, particularly to each side of the receiver but there are no cracks and just one tiny chip from the toe of the butt plate. The base of the front swivel appears to be set a little too deeply into the wood of the forend. The mechanics are in good working order. The bore shows strong, sharp rifling but is lightly frosted, perhaps from firing corrosive surplus ammunition. The "XF" barrel date code indicates December, 1959 production. A decent example of a scarce Remington bolt action sporter.
