The M 1919 being auctioned is a very early gun with no serial number and a two tone magazine with the three line markings ending with the 1908 patent date. Later production rifles were serial numbered beginning some time in 1920 and later magazines carried two line markings.
There are no cracks, chips, gouges or discoloring blemishes in the stock. The combined receiver/barrel and the other metal furniture rates about 95% with only some minor scratches in the blue/black finish. The bore is shiny and clean with sharp rifling. The rifle cocks when the bolt is closed and the safety functions as designed.
The original front sight, which is very similar to Springfield 1903 front sight, is in place. However, the rear sights have been removed and replaced with a 4 Power Mossberg Model M4D scope. The scope and mount are tight and solid. The cross hairs are sharp and easily seen, but the optics are slightly cloudy. Very shootable, if that is your choice.
