Here's a SIG P49 that was manufactured in the 1950's for the Swiss Army. This pistol has a 120mm (4.7") barrel and fixed sights.
The manual safety is located in front of the left grip and the design incorporates a magazine safety as well. All serial numbered parts are matching (frame, slide, barrel, and hammer/sear assembly). The "A" serial number prefix indicates that this is a Swiss Army P49. The Swiss Army pistols ran from A100000 in 1949 to A213110 in 1975 with a total of 113,111 pistols produced. The serial number of this example (A115867) indicates that it is a transitional pistol produced in about 1954. It features the matte style finish and checkered black plastic grips as is correct for the transitional pistols. The slide stop is serrated and of the later two-piece type. The right side of the frame is marked with the importer's address and "SIG-P210-9mm.SWITZERLAND".
Overall condition is excellent with about 97% of the finish remaining. There are a few handling marks including some minor wear around the slide stop. There is no rust or any pitting. The grips are in excellent condition.
The mechanics are in perfect working order and frame/slide/barrel fit are impeccable with no discernible play. The trigger is excellent and so is the bore. This pistol comes with two excellent condition 8-round factory magazines...one with matte blue body and stamped floorplate...the other from a modern "side release" SIG P210 that has had the floorplate modified to work with the European heel catch. Overall, a very nice example of a legendary pistol!
