This pistol is in very good original condition. The serial numbers are matching on the right side of the frame, inside slide at the rear, front of the barrel, and bottom of the locking block. German Crown/N proofs are found on the frame, front/right of slide, and on the right side of both barrel and locking block. The magazine is correct but not matching to this particular pistol. This pistol retains most of the original high polish blue finish with some slight sharp edge wear, some various handling marks, and some surface scratches on the slide. The finish on the front strap is strong. There is no significant rust or pitting although.
The front sight appears to be an arsenal replacement. There are NO import markings anywhere on the pistol. The original grips are in good condition, free of cracks or chips, but do have some wear and a few marks scattered about. It is interesting to note that there are German military Eagle/359 acceptance stamps inside the grips that have been scrubbed (this is not uncommon on these Swedish pistols). The mechanics are in good working order, including the safety/decocking mechanism. The bore rates good (better than the photo would indicate) and shows bright, sharp rifling except toward the muzzle which has some light pitting...still very shootable. Overall, a nice example of the early Walther P.38 type pistol.
