John Rigby (of London) .275 Rigby (7x57) 98 Mauser-Type Sporter

Here is a handsome Mauser-type sporting rifle by John Rigby, chambered in .275 Rigby (i.e. 7x57 Mauser.) The barrel has a brownish-plum patina, and is 21.5" with an excellent bore. The express sights have two folding leaves. The barrel is marked: RIGBY .275 HIGH VELOCITY, and JOHN RIGBY & CO. 32 KING ST. LONDON. SW. I have not fired the rifle, but commercial 7x57 ammo chambers and cycles smoothly. There is a side-mounted safety. The floor-plate is hinged. The capped pistol-grip stock is oil-finished English walnut in excellent condition with only a couple of tiny marks. The length of pull is 14" with a checkered butt. The weight is 7 lbs 6 oz. A classy rifle for any game. (It would also be fun to take to Africa.)
