The French Model 1936 rifle, also known as the MAS 36, was the standard military rifle for the French and was produced by MAS (Manufacture d’Armes de Saint-Ètienne) from 1936 until the German occupation of France, and then again after the occupation until 1952. The MAS 36 is only half an inch longer than the Enfield No. 5 Mk 1 “Jungle Carbine.” But as compact as it is, the MAS 36 — with its full-length handguard- looks solid and is built to last.
