Up for sale is this 5 shot double action Bull Dog revolver in .32 caliber.
Someone really needs to start making this firearm again.
With a 1.5 inch octagon barrel and a folding trigger this
revolver would give any revolver made by North American Arms today a run for its money when
it comes to concealability.
Bull Dogs were well known in the Old West. It has been reported that Custer carried a pair into
the Little Big Horn. This particular revolver has an Épreuve LièGe – (ELG) - Belgian proof
marking on the cylinder which indicates its country of origin. There are other markings on this
revolver on the frame and beneath the grips (see photos) that may be interpreted by more savvy
collectors.
The single and double action features both function although the cylinder does not always index
correctly ….. but sometimes it does. The chrome plating has taken on an age related patina that
actually appears rougher in the photos than it really is. These revolvers were manufactured from
the mid to late 1800’s and this particular one is handsome for its age. The cylinder is stamped
with the number “6” and this number also appears on the reverse side of each of the grip scales,
so it is assumed that the grips are original to the revolver. They are in wonderful condition and
very well designed for the small size of the gun.
This is a very nice little revolver with an interesting history in the Old West. With chrome
plating and an octagon barrel it is a rare variant that is very attractive and sure to promote
discussion in any collection. This unique and fun little revolver would make a wonderful
addition to any antique firearm collection. Grab it while you can!
