This 1884-produced Lightning in .38 Colt remains a true survivor from the Old West period, showing honest wear and retaining portions of its original nickel finish. The 3.5” barrel makes it a desirable “storekeeper” or pocket configuration, and the side-loading gate and six-shot fluted cylinder reflect the transitional design of early Colt double-actions. The matching numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap further add to its collector appeal.
Despite wear and a somewhat aged bore, this Lightning is mechanically functional and offers significant historical value. Antique-eligible and over 140 years old, it’s a fine addition for any Colt collector or enthusiast of 19th-century American revolvers.
