Extremely Rare Smith & Wesson .38 Single Action Mexican Model Spur Trigger Revolver with Scarce 6-inch Barrel, Nickel Plated with Pearl Grips, .38 S&W, mfg. 1891-1911 (all frames manufactured & numbered before 1899 and considered antique). This is a model so rare that most Smith & Wesson collectors have never even seen one!
Overall the pistol retains 85% bright period reapplied nickel finish with fine rust/oxidation spotting along the barrel, cylinder, and backstrap. Original pearl grips fit perfectly and have vibrant color.
Smith & Wesson logo on right side of frame with "MODEL OF 91" barrel address and matching serial number "15291" stamped on butt, cylinder, barrel, and latch. Full original blade front sight with very scarce longest offered length 6" barrel. The action cocks and functions properly with tight cylinder lockup. The barrel securely opens and snaps shut tight against the frame with no play whatsoever and original cartridge extractor works crisply. The bore shows very strong and sharp rifling front to back with moderate/heavy pinprick pitting and surface oxidation scattered throughout. A really cool salty representation of the ever elusive Mexican Model!
