This is an antique Winchester Model 1886, that has survived in excellent overall condition. It is a special order rifle with a full octagon barrel and a half, button magazine.
The barrel is 26", chambered in the 40-82 with an excellent, bright bore, sharp lands and grooves the whole way - this rifle has been shot very little - I would easily rate this bore at a 9. It is very rare to find a bore this nice from a blackpowder cartridge rifle.
The action works perfectly. The wood has been refinished. It appears that the wood was lightly sanded, although the majority of the fit is about flush with the metal. There is a small chip repair at the upper left wrist, at the tang. The wood overall looks very nice, with some small dings , impressions and old marks showing. This is a great looking Winchester 1886, in a configuration that is not often found. ***** This is an antique, and can ship directly to the buyer in MOST places
